• Have the Lowest Points: If no one goes "Tongits," the game can end when the central draw pile runs out of cards, or when a player calls a "Fight." In this scenario, the player with the lowest total points from their remaining unmelded cards (deadwood) wins.

2. Card Values: Cards are ranked from lowest to highest: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King. Points are assigned to cards, primarily for scoring deadwood:

• Aces (A): 1 point
• Number Cards (2-10): Face value (e.g., 2 is 2 points, 10 is 10 points)
• Face Cards (Jack, Queen, King): 10 points each

3. The Deal:

• A standard 52-card deck is used.
• The first dealer is usually chosen randomly. In subsequent rounds, the winner of the previous hand typically deals.
• Cards are dealt one at a time, counterclockwise:
  • The dealer receives 13 cards.
  • The other two players each receive 12 cards.
• The remaining cards are placed face-down to form the stock pile (draw pile).
• The dealer starts the game by discarding one card face-up to begin the discard pile.

4. Gameplay Flow (Player's Turn): Play proceeds counterclockwise. Each turn consists of three main steps:

• a. Draw a Card:
  • You must start your turn by taking one card. You have two options:
    • Take the top card from the stock pile (draw pile).
    • Take the top card from the discard pile only if you can immediately use it to form a new meld or lay off on an existing meld on the table. If you take from the discard pile, you are obligated to lay down the meld or lay off the card.
• b. Meld or Lay-off (Optional, but strategic):
  • Melds ("Bahay", "Buo", "Balay"): If you have a valid meld in your hand, you can choose to lay it face-up on the table in front of you. A meld consists of:
    • Set: Three or four cards of the same rank but different suits (e.g., 7♣ 7♦ 7♠, or K♥ K♦ K♣ K♠).
    • Run (Straight Flush): Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 4♠ 5♠ 6♠, or 10♦ J♦ Q♦ K♦).
    • A card can only be part of one meld at a time.
  • Laying Off ("Sapaw"): You can add cards to existing melds on the table (either your own or your opponents'). For example, if there's a meld of 7♣ 7♦ 7♠, and you have the 7♥, you can add it. If there's a run of 4♠ 5♠ 6♠, and you have the 3♠ or 7♠, you can extend the run. Laying off reduces cards in your hand.
• c. Discard a Card:
  • At the end of your turn, you must discard one card from your hand, face-up, onto the discard pile. This signals the end of your turn.

5. Ending the Game: The game can end in several ways:

• "Tongits" (Winning by Emptying Hand):
  • If a player manages to use all their cards by forming melds and/or laying off onto existing melds, and then discards their last card (or uses it as the last card in a meld/lay-off), they declare "Tongits" and win instantly.
• Calling a Fight / Challenge:
  • If a player has laid down at least one meld on the table, and no opponent has "sapawed" (laid off cards) on their melds since their previous turn, they can "call a fight" at the start of their turn (before drawing a card) if they believe they have the lowest points in their hand.
  • Other players (who have also laid down at least one meld) can then choose to "Fold" (concede the fight, pay the caller) or "Challenge."
  • If challenged, all involved players reveal their hands, and the player with the lowest unmelded points wins the fight. In case of a tie in points during a challenge, the challenging player typically wins.
• Draw Pile Runs Out:
  • If the stock pile (draw pile) runs out of cards, the game ends when the player who drew the last card completes their turn.
  • Any player who has not laid down at least one meld by this point is "Burned" (see below) and automatically loses.
  • Among the players who have laid down melds, scores are counted (total points of unmelded cards in hand). The player with the lowest score wins.
  • In case of a tie for the lowest score, the player who drew the last card from the stock pile usually wins among the tied players.

6. Special Rules:

• "Burned" (Sunog): A player is considered "burned" (or "sunog") if they have not laid down any melds on the table by the time another player declares "Tongits" or the draw pile runs out. Burned players automatically lose, regardless of their hand's points.
• Holding Melds: You are not always required to lay down a meld immediately. Sometimes it's strategic to hold melds in your hand to keep opponents guessing, especially if you're trying to achieve a surprise "Tongits." However, holding too many melds can be risky if the game ends abruptly and you're caught with high points.
• Secret Melds: In some variations, a player might be able to secretly hold a four-card set (e.g., all four 7s) until the end, potentially earning bonus points or chips for it. Tongits Go might implement this differently than traditional play.
